The latest trends in turbocharging

Corvette Engine

The goals that a turbocharger must satisfy are the ability to provide high-pressure turbocharging at low engine speeds, a high transient response, and high efficiency at a high pressure ratio. Different turbocharger designs such as the variable geometry turbocharger, electrically assisted turbocharger, and two-stage turbocharger have been developed as a means of achieving the above-mentioned performance improvements.

How do you improve the acoustic validity of turbochargeers in 1D Gas Dynamics Simulations?

Sub-optimal exhaust and intake systems have a negative impact on fuel consumption and thus CO2, because either the pressure loss or the system mass (or both) will be greater than necessary. Thus, NVH engineers have a strong need for accurate prediction-based optimisation of exhaust and intake systems on turbocharged engines .  Read more about the 1D Gas Dynamics Simulations here.
