Prototyping Prize – Connected Vehicle
Telematics, which combines Telecommunication and informatics, has created many exciting new services for vehicle environments, such as in-vehicle video entertainment, GPS location and navigation, and parking lot or gas station search. For greater safety on the road, more dynamic real-time navigation, and improved energy saving and carbon reduction, the next generation of Telematics system will emphasize short-range communications technologies which can be applied in Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Roadside (V2R) applications. The key technology to promote this trend will be Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments /Dedicated Short – Range Communications (WAVE/DSRC).
Therefore, AZO cooperates with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to integrate Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) technology into the WAVE / DSRC technology and initiate a new Prototyping Prize for the Galileo Pro at ESNC 2011. The first competition concept of the Prototyping Topic Prize in 2011 is “Connected Vehicle.” The prototyping demonstration competition will be held at the ITRI Hsinchu Campus (Taiwan). The organisers anticipate the new prototyping topics will be a valuable expansion for ESNC to inspire more innovative and profitable applications in the future.
The goal is to design and implement innovative technology and applications for “Connected Vehicle” by integrating a new generation of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) into the WAVE / DSRC technology.
The winner, the Galileo Pro, will receive the following awards:
- EUR 10,000
- A round-trip air ticket to and accommodation in Europe for one person (or one round-trip air ticket to and accommodation in Taiwan if the grand prize winner is not from Taiwan)
- The chance to present the winning application at the sMove 360° trade fair in Munich, Germany, from 18 – 20 October 2011
