How the Cost of Energy in Automotive Production can be reduced

IQPC asked Eckardt Augenstein (perpendo Energie- und Verfahrenstechnik GmbH) how cost of energy in automotive production can be reduced.

What is your company’s role in the automotive manufacturing industry?

perpendo offers a wide range of services in the field energy efficiency and energy management with a strong focus on industry. Our customers profit from more than a decade’s experience in efficiency analyses of production processes and infrastructure.

 In a rapidly growing and developing market such as energy management in production line, how is your company setting itself apart?

Due to our experience in efficiency analysis from more than 300 projects, a good part of that in automotive industry, we offer a profound knowledge of the correlations of production, infrastructure and energy consumptions. Our toolbox of model based methods allows us to supply our customers a transparent view on their current energy situation with a minimum of measurements. Apart from the deduced saving measures, the analyses serve as an optimal starting point for energy management and controlling development.

Where do you see future potential for the industry to continue its phenomenal growth?

One major future development will be that suppliers of production equipment will offer more efficient solutions with enhanced options for a seamless integration in the work’s energy system (e.g. options for heat recovery). This will include retrofit packages for existing equipment. Today, there are numerous good ideas to enhance efficiency but it lacks of available solutions on the market.
